Memorial service celebrating the life of Charles "Tim" Benson of West Monroe, LA. will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the chapel of Heaven Bound Funeral Home. 703 North 4th. Street. WEST Monroe, LA. (beside the First West Thrift Store) with Bro. William Smith officiating.
Family will receive friends for visitation 2:00 PM until time for service at the funeral home.
Tim was born on July 20, 1949, and passed from this life on June 21, 2026, at the age of 76. He was a man whose life was defined by hard work, service, and a deep love for the people and passions that brought him joy.
Tim proudly retired as a sergeant with the West Monroe Police Department after years of dedicated service to his community. He found freedom on the open road as a motorcycle enthusiast, joy in music as a talented piano and drum player, and fulfillment in the many trades he mastered, including blacksmithing, farrier work, and driving as a CDL operator.
Tim had a special place in his heart for animals and an enduring love for rock and blues music. Yet, of all the roles he held throughout his life, the one he cherished most was that of family man. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, offering unwavering support, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Tim's strength, kindness, and larger-than-life spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Huntington Benson and mother, Florence Victoria Carlson Benson.
He leaves a legacy of love with his wife of 58 years, Bobbie J. Benson; daughter, Victoria W. Freeman and Husband, Robert, III; son, Timothy E. Benson and wife Kelly; grand-daughters, Allison C. Freeman, Paige E. Freeman, and Rielle D. Benson; adopted son, Claytis Thirdkill; sister, Sue Benson.
Special thanks to Courtney Weston (primary care) Dr. Assad Mouhaffel and the rest of his medical care team and Melanie Massey and her team.
