Douglas L Cummins

Douglas Cummins, born September 1,1952, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at his home in Chatham, LA.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family. Doug dedicated over 50 years to a career as a truck driver, navigating the roads for companies such as MDX, Ole Time Express, Southern Pride Express, and Dedicated Logistics.

Even in retirement, his strong work ethic shined through as he continued making home deliveries for Mitchell's Pharmacy in Chatham and Jonesboro. These roles were a testament to his commitment to providing for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jackie Cummins; children, Michael Cummins of Winnsboro, LA, Joe Cummins and wife, Kristy of Haughton, LA, Amy Pyle and husband Patrick of Pearland, TX., Joseph Gill of Chatham, LA., Jamie Gill of Chatham, LA., Kristie Gill Al-Lowzi and husband Lou of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; sister, Barbara Plumley of Swartz, LA.; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Mattie Peavy Colvin, Elmo Cummins, Stella Ross and John Ross; spouses, Peggy Hutto Cummins and Phyllis Mulkey Cummins; siblings, William “Sonny” Cummins, Mary Virginia McNease, Ann Glover, Jerry Cummins, Sr., and Lee Cummins; and daughter, Jodi Gill Mooney.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Chatham, LA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m until time of service.
