Ina Faye Hackworth

Ina Faye Reese Hackworth, 96, of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished.

Born and raised in West Monroe, Ina was a woman of deep convictions, vibrant talents, and sharp wit. She graduated as the Salutatorian of the Ouachita Parish High School Class of 1946, where her exceptional intellect earned her the title of "Outstanding Student of the Commercial Department" and the prestigious Gregg Speed Certificate for her elite transcription skills.

In that same milestone year of 1946, she married her husband, Winfred, with whom she shared 75 beautiful years of marriage. During the 1950s and 1960s, Ina managed their home across the United States, from Virginia to Alaska, as Winfred traveled working various construction jobs. While raising their three children on the road, she balanced family life with various accounting and secretarial roles, proving her capability and adaptability at every turn.

In the mid-1960s, the family returned to Louisiana, eventually making their permanent home in West Monroe.

Ina spent the remainder of her career serving as a dedicated accountant for the local paper mill until her retirement.

Ina lived life with passion and an adventurous spirit. She and Winfred shared a love for the outdoors, spending many memorable days at their hunting camp, "Hack's Shack," where she loved to hunt deer. She also enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, traveling to new places, and sharing her faith as a lifelong, devoted Jehovah’s Witness. A gifted musician, she loved singing, writing music, and playing her guitar.

Ina’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a deeply proud and loving grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Known for her bright humor, contagious laughter, and quick-witted intelligence, Ina left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and spiritual community.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice for their attentive care. Special heartfelt thanks go to Tiffany, Cathy, Debra, and Jarvis, whose compassion, guidance, and steady comfort brought immense peace during a difficult time.

Ina is preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Hackworth; her parents, Herbert and Gladys Reese; her sisters, Johnny Mae Reese Coates and Margie Reese Skipper; her daughter, Sharon Welch Bowers; and her sons-in-law, Gordon Welch and Jimmy Roan.

Ina is survived by her children, Steven (Jeannie) Hackworth and Melissa Roan (Pete Neitz); and sons-in-law, Danny (Dawn) Bowers and Gary Delhommer.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Philip (Ashley) Welch and children, Katie and Colton; Jason (Melissa) Welch and children, Alyse and Adelynn; Kristina (Bo) Johnson and children, Hope, Jarrett, and Connor; Jeremy (Lindsey) Delhommer and children, Brianna, Peyton, Beckham, and Preslee; Kelly (Matthew) Madden and children, Aurora and Vail; Hannah (Jennifer) Boggs and children, Mackinley and Morgan; Timothy (Betsy) Bowers and children, Jade and David; Jonathan (Ashley) Delhommer and children, Mason and Madden; Reese Hackworth; Kamala Roan Matthews; and James “Little Jimmy” Roan (Robin Pearson).

Additionally, she leaves behind her great-great-grandchildren, Haven and Leila Roan, and Ethan and Olivia Bracknell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Services for Ina Hackworth will be held at Heaven Bound Funeral Home in West Monroe on Aug. 8, 2026, at 2 p.m., followed by a “Celebration of Life” at the Hamilton House Inn from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
