Celebration of life for Louie Elvitt Thompson, Jr. of Calhoun, LA. will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2026 at First Baptist Church Calhoun with Bro. Larry Walters officiating; family will receive friends for visitation 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.
Louie Elvitt Thompson, Jr was born on November 4, 1958, and passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2026, with his family present. He was a long-time resident of Indian Village, Calhoun, LA. He graduated from Calhoun High School and attended trade school to become a Licensed Plumber. Later, he took over the family farm, Thompson’s Peach Farm.
Louie loved farming, cultivating the land, and seeing his customers year after year. Farming was a way of life for him and in his blood. He is often described as one of the hardest workers that anyone has ever known.
He loved hunting just as much as farming and was an avid deer hunter. He was a long-time member of Dry Creek Hunting Club and known as “Captain” by the other members. He especially loved running dogs and created many friendships throughout the years over a shared love of hunting.
His grandchildren enjoyed spending time with “Peach Papaw” on the farm or on the deer stand and learned many life lessons from him throughout the years.
Louie Elvitt Thompson, Jr was preceded in death by his long-time partner, Mrs. Tommye Jean Busbice; parents, Louie Elvitt Thompson, Sr and Dorothy Audirsch Thompson; brother-in-laws, Alan Arnold and Edward Franks.
He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Downen (JR), Heather Thompson; son, Joseph Thompson; grandchildren, Autumn Downen, Garrett Downen, Sydney Hottinger, Cohen Maier, Mason Willis, Emily Martin, Kaitlyne Thompson, and Joseph Thompson; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Darnell Arnold, Martha Franks, and Devona Landers; brother Luther Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
